About Skoda

dir="ltr">History

Czech carmaker Skoda Auto has its roots tracing back to over 120 years. It started making vehicles in the 1930s, but in 1991, it became a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group.

Skoda began its operations in India in late 2001, and launched its first car, the Octavia sedan, in 2002. It was initially imported in semi knock-down kits and assembled locally in the country. Now Skoda’s Aurangabad facility is a full-fledged manufacturing plant.

With the India 2.0 Project, the carmaker has implemented the highly localised MQB A0-IN vehicle platform. As the name suggests, it is an iteration of the global MQB A0 platform where all upcoming models will be designed and manufactured locally.

Since 2019, Skoda India has been operated under Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited, a subsidiary of the global VW Group undertaking the business activities of five brands in India: Skoda, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, and Lamborghini.

Product portfolio

Sedans: Skoda’s sedan lineup consists of the brand’s global stalwarts, the Octavia and Superb sedans. Segment sales for the carmaker are primarily driven by the Slavia which is based on the MQB-A0-IN platform.

SUVs: The carmaker offers the Kushaq compact SUV at the entry level. The facelifted Kodiaq SUV is positioned towards the more premium side of the spectrum as it fends off competition from the likes of the MG Gloster and Jeep Meridian.

Greatest hits

2004 Skoda Octavia RS: Iconic performance sedan that’s still revered by the automotive community

Skoda Superb: Plethora of features, plentitude of rear seat space and a plush ride made it a proper European luxury sedan

2020 Skoda Octavia RS 245: Quickest Skoda in India with a massive tuning potential

Skoda Kushaq: First mass-market Skoda SUV that debuted the globally-derived MQB A0 IN platform

Skoda Rapid: Compact, highway-friendly family sedan with a solid build quality

Future plans

After adding the Kodiaq SUV and Slavia sedan to its lineup in early 2022, Skoda has new MQB A0 platform based vehicles in the pipeline. The carmaker will likely also launch the next-generation Octavia vRS sometime in the distant future.

Kia received an overwhelming response with the launch of the EV6, and with Hyundai gearing up for the launch of the IONIQ 5 soon, Skoda might be keeping close tabs. Its all-electric Enyag iV was spotted testing in India recently, hinting towards a possible launch. It’ll be brought in as a completely-built unit (CBU) and will likely kick off the marque’s electric innings in India.

    The slavia, Like other

The slavia, Like other skodas, Has a practical and spacious cabin that seems well-built and long-lasting.The interior, However, Does not feel as expensive as the outside, Which is mostly due to the polish of some of the components. For example, The faux leather seats are crinkly in several places and appear to be aftermarket seat covers.

    I've had this car

I've had this car for approximately 6 months and can confidently claim that it ranks among the top vehicles in its price range. If you want a vehicle with comparable build quality, Ride, Power, And interior subtlety, You will need to pay between 50 and 60 lakhs on a vehicle from a premium manufacturer.I've tested the 3 series, Volvo xc40, Mercedes gl, And the new 2022 c class before making this statement. And to those those who complain that the civic has more amenities and a sunroof, I say, Go test drive the car yourself before writing a review.

    The upgraded kodiaq costs

The upgraded kodiaq costs between rs 34.99 lakh and rs 37.49 lakh, Which isn't cheap. It is less expensive than the entry-level german luxury suvs, But only somewhat. However, When you consider everything you receive for your money, The kodiaq is a compelling option. It has a premium appearance, Is well-built, Has many more amenities than some luxury suvs on the market, And is extremely practical.

    The cost of this

The cost of this skoda superb sportline is rs 38.03 lakh (otr mumbai). And i don't need to remind you that you could just as easily buy a toyota fortuner or a ford endeavour for this amount of money.Only because suvs are more in demand today. However, There are still quite a few purchasers out there who are on the lookout for a strong sedan. One that is more or less dynamically arranged, Comfy, Clearly roomy, And gorgeous to look at.

Both the cars are good in their forte. The Skoda Slavia offers a sweet balance between the alternatives currently available in the segment, blending modern tech with great space, practicality and driveability. On the other hand, City still remains a very balanced car, finding a very good spot between something like a Ciaz which has the space but lacks features and the Verna which has the features but could do with more space. The City is larger both in length and width, comfortable ride, better interiors, more leg room in the back seats and a great feature set. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test drive before making the final decision. Follow the link and select your desired city for dealership details.

Skoda Kushaq seems to have nailed the brief in terms of looks, build and design. When it comes to performance, there's little more you could ask for from the two tractable powertrains. It also gets a long list of features, including some premium items too. But there are small hiccups everywhere. The slightly plasticky bits in the cabin, the narrow cabin at the back, lack of more wow features. On the other hand, The Hyundai Creta is clearly an impressive compact SUV. It is spacious, comfortable, loaded with features, easy to drive, and offered powerful petrol and diesel engine options. Compared to the old car, it is a huge upgrade, both in terms of drive and feel. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test drive before making the final decision. Follow the link and select your city and brand accordingly for dealership details.
