Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0 Latest Updates

Yamaha India has hiked the price of the MT-15 Version 2.0 and FZ range. Here’s how much it costs in August 2022.

Yamaha has launched the 2022 Monster Energy MotoGP Limited Edition of the MT-15 Version 2.0 at Rs 1,65,400 (ex-showroom Delhi). Click here for our launch story to know more.

Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0 Engine

The Yamaha MT-15 is powered by a 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine producing 18.4PS at 10,000rpm and 14.1Nm at 7500rpm. While the motor displacement is the same as the previous bike, power and torque figures are down by 0.1PS and 0.2Nm. We think Yamaha has detuned the engine to improve fuel economy. Engine outputs compared to the BS4 version are lower -- 0.7PS and 0.6Nm to be precise. It uses the same deltabox frame, and features a USD fork and monoshock suspension setup. Braking hardware is the same with discs at both ends. That said, the rear swingarm used on the MT-15 is now a cast aluminium unit and it sports a USD fork as seen on the R15 V4. One big miss on the 2022 MT-15 is the lack of dual-channel ABS.

Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0 Variants

The new Yamaha MT-15 is available in a single variant, offered in four colour options - Cyan Storm (new), Racing Blue (new) and Ice Fluo-Vermillion, priced at Rs 1,64,400, and Metallic Black at Rs 1,63,400. It is now available in the 2022 Monster Energy MotoGP paint scheme too for Rs 1,65,400

Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0 Design

In terms of design, the MT-15 remains cosmetically unchanged as compared to its predecessor. It retains its sporty and modern-looking styling, however, we were expecting Yamaha designers to give it a radical makeover as with the new R15 V4.

Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0 Features

The Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0 features LED DRLs, an LED projector headlight and taillight. It gets a fully digital instrument cluster that has been redesigned and features Bluetooth connectivity for calls, SMS and email alerts, however, the streetfighter misses out on navigation. Unlike the Yamaha R15 V4, the new bike misses out on quickshifter or traction control system, even as an option. Moreover, it continues to get a single-channel ABS as standard, with no signs of a dual-channel variant. On the mechanical front, the new MT-15 still gets Variable Valve Actuation. The tech allows the 155cc engine to generate peak engine performance at higher revs without having to compensate for lack of low- to mid-range grunt.

Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0 Competitors

The MT-15 Version 2.0 rivals the likes of KTM 125 Duke, which retails for a premium of Rs 10,000 despite being down on both power and features. The 2022 Yamaha MT-15 receives a bunch of noticeable updates, which should make it an even better bike. In terms of pricing, we feel Yamaha India could have done a better job as the MT-15 Version 2.0 still feels a bit half-baked.

  • Powerful bike

It's a really powerful bike in 150cc segment having great pickup and speed and can ride through both congested roads and highways. You can easily ride along with upto 250 cc bikes of other brands. It doesn't have quick shifter, Dual channel abs and navigation even at this price (that's quite high in 150 cc segment) and also the pillion seat is too uncomfortable even for short rides. But overall riding experience is good. And there's no regrets after purchasing this streetfighter machine.

  • In looks and performance

In looks and performance it is best bike in 155 cc segment i think this bike beat 200 cc segment bikes like ns 200.Rs 200.Duke 200.Etc.But one think i am not satisfied in this bike is the comfort the length of seat is very short i think the seat.Only that think i don't like otherwise this bike is superbeast and supercool.

  • Ultra lucky

It's like a dream for me to own this bike.I can't explain the look of the bike, It's just awesome.I have a friend who owns this bike i asked him often to give me a chance to drive his bike.Often he give me his bike, But often he refused. But whatever mt15 v2 is love. The lower weight of this bike makes it easier for us to drive it in any situation. If someone has this bike they are just ultra lucky.

  • I've been using this bike

I've been using this bike for almost 8 months now and till now haven't come across any major issues.Mileage is great and it's quite comfortable for long rides as well. The gear and breaking system are the two areas which i think could've been made better.Overall good biking experience.
