Hyundai IONIQ 5

It gets two battery options: 58kWh and 72.6kWh. Both can be had with either a rear-wheel drive or an all-wheel drivetrain option. The all wheel-drive powertrain is a dual-electric motor setup placed on the front and rear axles. In the top-spec, the whole setup with the 72.6kWh battery pack has an output of 305PS and 605Nm. The same dual-motor setup with the 58kWh battery pack has a decreased output of 233PS (72PS less). The single electric motor produces 170PS and 350Nm, and 217PS and 350Nm when fed through the 58kWh and 78.6kWh battery pack, respectively.

The 58kWh battery pack is good for a claimed range of 384km, while the 72.6kWh battery offers a WLTP claimed range of 481km.

The 350kW fast charger takes 18 minutes to charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent. It takes the more common 50kWh charger 43.5 minutes to charge the smaller battery pack, while it takes 56.6 minutes to replenish the 72.6kWh battery pack.

It is available in two broad variants: Standard Range and Long Range. The electric hatchback is expected to be priced at around Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom).

The electric hatchback’s cabin follows an eco-friendly theme throughout. Its features include a sliding centre console, augmented reality head-up display (AR HUD), an integrated dual 12.3-inch infotainment and driver’s display and a panoramic sunroof. Hyundai has even packed the IONIQ 5 with a host of ADAS systems including Highway Driving Assist 2, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, High Beam Assist, and Driver Attention Warning.

It will take the fight to the likes of the Volvo XC40 Recharge and the Kia EV6 in India.
