Tata Altroz Latest Updates

Tata has introduced a 6-speed DCT for the Altroz, making it only the second premium hatchback after the Hyundai i20 to get a dual-clutch automatic transmission. The DCT is paired to the 86PS 1.2-litre petrol unit available across seven variants: XMA+, XTA, XTA Dark, XZA, XZA (O) XZA+, and XZA+ Dark. The electric derivative of the hatchback was spotted testing recently, hinting at a possible launch soon.

Tata Altroz Engine

Tata provides the Altroz with three engine options: 86PS/113Nm 1.2-litre petrol, 110PS/140Nm 1.2-litre turbo-petrol, and 90PS/200Nm 1.5-litre diesel. A 5-speed manual is offered as standard, while the naturally aspirated petrol engine can be had with an optional 6-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Tata Altroz Variants

Tata offers the Altroz in seven broad trims: XE, XE+, XM+, XT, XZ, XZ (O), and XZ+.

The standard variants get a total of five colour options: Harbour Blue (new), High Street Gold, Midtown Grey, Downtown Red, and Avenue White. The Dark Edition features a Cosmo Black shade, which is limited to the top-spec XZ+.

Tata Altroz Features

The Tata Altroz comes features iRA connected car tech, a 7-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Harman sound system, Hinglish voice commands, climate control, rear 12V power outlet, wearable key, height-adjustable driver seat, and tilt steering. Safety is covered by auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors with a rear camera.

What is good and bad in Altroz?

  • Altroz Positives

    Good road presence. Supple ride and great balance between handling and comfort. Practical and spacious cabin.

  • Altroz Negatives

    Petrol engine lacks refinement and is noisy. Gear shifts are clunky. Piano black accents on the outside easily pick up dust swirls.

    While the Altroz does not manage to set a new standard in the segment, it will fit right into the mix with a long feature list, sharp looks and a comfortable ride. The engine refinement remains to be the major chink in the armour.
